How to renew your real estate license in Utah
Utah real estate licenses must be renewed every two years through the Utah Division of Real Estate. Licenses expire on the last day of the month in which the license was originally issued or last renewed. To maintain an active Utah real estate license, Sales Agents, Associate Brokers, Branch Brokers, and Principal Brokers must complete continuing education requirements, renew online through Utah’s online licensing system, and pay the required renewal fees before the license expiration date.
Utah real estate license renewal steps
Utah real estate licenses renew every two years based on the last day of the month in which the license was originally issued or last renewed. The renewal window opens 45 days before the expiration date. All continuing education must be completed by the 15th day of the renewal month.
For example: A license issued on October 2, 2025 expires on October 31, 2027. Continuing education must be completed by October 15, 2027 for on-time renewal processing.
Step 1
Complete your continuing education requirements
Before renewing your license, complete all required continuing education.
First-time Sales Agent renewal requirements
First-time Utah Sales Agents must complete:
- 12-hour New Agent Course
- One 3-hour Mandatory Course
- 3 additional hours of either Core or Elective courses
Standard continuing education requirements for all other renewals: 18 hours
Inactive Utah licensees do not need continuing education to renew inactive status. However, CE is required before reactivating to active status.
Important continuing education reminders:
- All CE must be completed by the 15th day of the renewal month
- Duplicate courses cannot be counted within the same renewal cycle
- Continuing education providers must be approved by the Utah Division of Real Estate
- CE reporting errors must be resolved directly with the education provider — the Division does not manually add CE hours
Pro Tip: Complete continuing education several weeks before your expiration month to avoid reporting delays and late fees.
Step 2
Access your UtahID and online licensing account
Utah real estate license renewals are completed online through Utah’s online licensing management system using a UtahID account.
After logging into the Online Management System:
- Your license may appear automatically on your dashboard
- If your license is missing, you must link it using your license number and a registration code obtained from the Division
Failure to obtain and enter the registration code may delay the renewal process and result in late fees.
Reviewing your continuing education records
Licensees can review recorded CE hours directly within their UtahID account. When reviewing CE records:
- Ensure there are no duplicate courses
- Verify all required hours have been properly reported
Step 3
