Post-licensing or a post-licensing course is additional state-required coursework that a new real estate agent is required to complete after acquiring their license.
Not every state requires post-licensing coursework to maintain your license. However, in some states, new agents are have to complete their post-license courses within the first year of getting their license.
If you don’t complete your post-licensing course before your license renewal, your license will become null and void.
However, if you are unable to complete the course and exam due to approved individual hardships, and is seen as a valid reason by the commission, you may be allowed up to six extra months to complete it.
Each state has different requirements for real estate post-licensing education. Courses can range from 7 hours to 60 hours depending on which state you are licensed in.
