Maryland real estate licenses renew every two years from the date of issuance. Renew your license before the expiration date to avoid interruptions to your ability to practice real estate in Maryland.
Step 1
Complete your continuing education requirements
Before renewing your license, complete all required continuing education.
Salesperson first-time renewal requirements: 15 hours
Standard salesperson and associate broker renewal requirements: 15 hours
Salespersons and associate brokers must complete CE courses in either the residential or commercial track.

Additional important reminders:
- Continuing education courses must be completed at least 30 days before the license expiration date to avoid reinstatement fees
- NAR ethics courses do not substitute for Maryland’s required ethics course
- If you hold multiple licenses, course completions must be submitted for each license number

Step 2
Verify your continuing education status and access the MREC portal
Maryland real estate license renewals are completed online through the MREC portal.
Before renewing:
- Verify your continuing education hours have been reported properly
- Confirm your license information is accurate
- Review your contact information and email address
Broker renewal applicants must also submit a full credit report, including the public records section.
Credit reports:
- Must not be older than six months
- May be submitted by fax, email, or secure online upload
Licensees should not submit renewal applications until all continuing education requirements have been completed and properly reflected in the system.

Submit your renewal application and pay your renewal fee
