How to get a Real Estate License in Oklahoma
To become a real estate agent in Oklahoma, you must first get your Oklahoma real estate license. The process of getting your real estate license generally takes a few months and includes the following steps:
1
Check Oklahoma real estate license eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and satisfy the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission’s licensing requirements. First-time applicants generally apply for a Provisional Sales Associate license. Review the official requirements before enrolling.
2
Complete 90 hours of approved pre-licensing education
Finish an OREC-approved 90-hour pre-license salesperson course, including your school’s required course assessments or final exam. Your completed pre-license education remains valid for three years. Colibri offers online Oklahoma real estate classes with additional study support in select packages.
3
Complete fingerprinting and your background check
Schedule an in-person IdentoGO live-scan appointment using Oklahoma service code 2B7NR3. The current background check fee is $60.
4
Apply for your Provisional Sales Associate license
Submit your application through OREC’s online application portal and pay the $35 application fee. After your application and background check are approved, OREC sends your information to the exam provider.
5
Pass the Oklahoma real estate licensing exam
Pearson VUE administers the Oklahoma licensing examination, not PSI. After OREC approval, Pearson VUE sends your candidate ID and scheduling instructions. The published Provisional Sales Associate exam fee is $75 per attempt with the booking discount. Review the current candidate handbook for exam format, time limits and passing standards. Prepare using Oklahoma real estate exam prep if you want additional practice.
6
Affiliate with an Oklahoma broker and receive your license
Arrange sponsorship or affiliation with an Oklahoma-licensed broker to work in real estate. After passing, pay OREC’s $100 Provisional Sales Associate license issuance fee and complete the required broker affiliation steps before practicing.
Provisional Sales Associates must also complete a 45-hour post-license course before their provisional license expires.
