Here's what you need to get your Missouri Real Estate license

The information below is a summary of the minimum requirements set forth by the Missouri Real Estate Commission. For a more detailed requirements breakdown, please see the board's site.
If you hold Real Estate licenses in multiple states, please make sure to check each state's requirements.

Missouri Real Estate: Salesperson (Pre-Licensing)

  1. Step 1. Meet Missouri real estate license requirements. To get your Missouri real estate license, you must be at least 18 years of age and show evidence of being fingerprinted through the approved statewide vendor.
  2. Step 2. Meet ONE of the following Missouri requirements: 
     
    Option 1
    • Earn a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion from a 48-hour pre-exam salesperson course. The certification must come from an accredited Missouri real estate school on or before the exam date.
    • Pass both portions of the Missouri salesperson examination and complete the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course (MREP) before you submit your real estate salesperson license application.
    • The Missouri Real Estate Practice Course can be taken before or after the exam date. Make sure you take it after you complete the 48-hour pre-exam salesperson course.
    • Submit your real estate salesperson license application within six months of completing the 48-hour pre-exam salesperson course.
    Option 2
    • Be a licensed attorney and pass BOTH portions of the Missouri salesperson examination (Education requirements are waived).
    • Submit your real estate salesperson license application within six months of passing the exam.
    • If you don't pass both portions of the exam in one sitting, then you must submit your real estate salesperson license application within six months of the first passing exam score.
    • Provide a copy of your Bar card with the real estate salesperson license application.
    Option 3
    • Hold a current and active real estate license in another jurisdiction.
    • Pass the STATE portion of the Missouri salesperson exam, AND
    • Complete the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course (MREP) prior to submitting your real estate salesperson license application.
    • The Missouri Real Estate Practice course can be taken before or after exam date. Be sure to submit your real estate salesperson license application within six months of passing the exam.
    • A current license (history) certification issued within three months from the real estate commission of the state/jurisdiction where the currently license is held, must be provided with the real estate salesperson license application. A copy of license is not acceptable.

If you passed the prelicensing course prior to April 24, 2023 and are not in the system, please email PSI at [email protected]. A CSR will call you back within 4 hours to get you entered. Be sure to include your name and phone number.

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary but are generally 6 months after enrollment date.
Certificate: With few exceptions, online course completion certificates are available for download at course conclusion and posted directly to your student dashboard.   
Seat Time: The Missouri Real Estate Commission requires that all students spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.

There is no limit to the number of CE hours that may be taken online.
