How To Get Your Real Estate Broker License In Indiana

Step 1. Meet Indiana real estate license requirements as outlined on the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency – Real Estate Commission website:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED
Step 2. Complete an approved 90-hour Indiana real estate pre-license course.
Step 3. Pass the real estate licensing examination by earning a score of 75% or higher.
Step 4. Obtain sponsorship from a licensed Indiana broker.
Step 5. Apply for an Indiana real estate license.
Step 6. Complete state required 30-hour post-licensing course.
How long does it take to get an Indiana real estate license?
It varies per person on how long it takes to get an Indiana real estate license depending on the pace in which you complete the 90 hours of pre-licensing coursework and pass your licensing examination, the time it takes you to complete the application process and obtain broker sponsorship, and application processing times. Some candidates complete the requirements within a few months.
What kind of information will I learn to help me get a real estate license in Indiana?
All Colibri Real Estate courses are approved by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency – Real Estate Commission. Once completed, you are eligible to sit for the Indiana real estate license exam. The 90-hour real estate course will take you through all the subjects mandated by the Indiana Real Estate Commission, and includes instruction in real estate basics and law, real estate brokerage operation, and real estate finance. It contains information on real estate contracts, Indiana real estate license law and real estate commission rules, closing real estate transactions, real estate brokerage, earnest money and trust accounts, property management, financing instruments and loan products, real estate loan underwriting, and current and geographic real estate topics.
Per Colibri Real Estate policy, the 90-hour pre-license coursework for brokers must be completed within six (6) months of the start date. The start date for distance education courses is the date the course material is first accessed and the end date is when all required documentation is submitted to the provider.

How do I take the Indiana Broker licensing examination?
The Indiana Broker licensing examination is taken through https://candidate.psiexams.com/. Applicants have 365 days from the date listed on the course completion certificate to pass the licensing exam which consists of a state portion and a national portion. If you miss the deadline, you must retake the course. The state requires a score of 75% or higher to pass the exam.
How do I submit my Indiana Broker application?
Along with proof of completion of pre-licensing education and a passing score on both the state and national portions of the licensing exam, the application for an Indiana Broker’s License must be submitted within one (1) year of passing both portions of the state license examination. You must be sponsored by a licensed Indiana broker to receive an active broker’s license. Learn more about finding a sponsoring broker. Does Indiana require post-licensing education?
During the first two (2) years after the broker’s license is issued, licensees must take and pass at least 30 hours of post-licensing education.

Regulatory Notes:
Obtaining Certificate of Course Completion: Upon completion of the course, Colibri Real Estate will provide you an electronic certificate of completion in your account dashboard. Broker candidates must bring a copy of this certificate to the PSI testing center and include a copy with the broker license application. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time, therefore that will be the time reflected on your certificate.
