This Property Management Survey course is a six-hour continuing education course that provides licensees with an overview of various aspects of property management within the District of Columbia. Special emphasis is placed on the District of Columbia’s laws, regulations, final rulings, etc. regarding licensure, exemptions, and the duties and fiduciary responsibilities of licensees involved in leasing or managing real estate (including freehold and non-freehold interests). The information presented in this course is useful, not only for property managers, real estate brokers, salespersons, common interest managers, association boards, and community association managers; but, also, for members of the general public. Upon the completion of this course, the successful participant will receive a certificate of completion.
The course reviews the most common regulations that both freehold and non-freehold property managers must follow regarding property interests within the District of Columbia. This survey includes local and federal laws and regulation, as well. Also, the course information clarifies the requirement that any property management activities done for others, whether the management is for freehold or non-freehold interests, conducted for a fee, can only be done by an individual (artificial or real) licensed by the District of Columbia Real Estate Commission (Commission). Several case studies are included throughout the course to assist the student in developing a better understanding of the property manager’s role in promoting and protecting the public trust while performing property management functions within the District of Columbia.
