Anyone who assists or desires to assist others in the sale, leasing, management, or exchange of real estate must hold at least a real estate salesperson’s license. Certain criminal convictions may prevent individuals from receiving or retaining a real estate license. If the applicant has prior convictions, outstanding tax obligations, etc., may contact the Real Estate Branch for information on filing a “Preliminary decision” application, PRIOR to registering for the prelicense course. In some cases, a prior history of convictions, judgments, tax obligations, etc. may affect obtaining a real estate license.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the licensing examination date. Applicants must be either a United States citizen, a United States national, or an alien authorized to work in the United States by the examination date. For a license to be issued, an applicant must provide his/her social security number, or the application will be deemed deficient and will not be processed further. Applicants must possess a reputation for or record of competency, honesty, truthfulness, financial integrity, and fair dealing.
All pre-license students must create a MyPVL account with the Hawaii Real Estate Branch and register with the prelicense school. Course completion information is posted directly to the student’s MyPVL account through the Real Estate Branch website within 10 days of course completion. Salesperson license applicants must complete the salesperson Commission approved prelicense course given in Hawaii (including passing the course final exam) or apply for and obtain a “Prelicensing Education Equivalency – Real Estate” to be eligible to take the licensing examination administered by PSI.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the licensing examination date. Applicants must be either a United States citizen, a United States national, or an alien authorized to work in the United States by the examination date. •While online licensing renewals will be available until 11:59:59 pm on December 31st, a licensee who does not submit a complete renewal application prior to the November 30th filing deadline will be at risk of the application not be processed and approved before the license expiration date, and the licensee may have to cease real estate licensing activity from January 1st until properly licensed.

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary but are generally 6 months after enrollment date.
Final Exam: While students are required to demonstrate mastery of the content at certain levels of the course, there is no passing score requirement for the final exam.
Certificate: With few exceptions, online course completion certificates are available for download at course conclusion and posted directly to your student dashboard.
To Reactivate a License Before the End of the Current Biennium:
•A licensee who intends to reactivate a license before the end of the current biennium, shall inform the continuing education provider of their intent prior to the class. This will ensure that the licensee receives the correct course completion certificates.
•To reactivate a license before the end of the biennium, a licensee must first satisfy the prescribed continuing education hours of one prior renewal period.
•Licensees who wish to reactivate a license need at least 20 credit hours of continuing education (core courses + elective courses).
•The previous biennium’s core courses are available through May 31 of odd-numbered years.
•After May 31, licensees who have not completed the biennium’s core courses shall complete 20 hours of continuing education elective courses.
•Licenses expire December 31st of even years.

The school will submit student rosters to the state. The student will receive an email from the school containing a link to where they can go to the State’s site to print their certificate.
If for some reason the student doesn’t get the email, they can go to https://myce.dcca.hawaii.gov/, log into their account, and download another copy of their certificate.
If you are taking CE to re-activate your license and need make-up credit, please call our customer service department at 800-328-2008 to request that your account be marked as such so the rosters are submitted correctly.
